Beyond Barriers

In 2025, our organization is providing $200,000 in funding to support innovative solutions in diabetes care.

Last year, Beyond Type 1 supported partner organizations with $100,000 through the Innovation Grants program.

This year, Beyond Type 1’s Beyond Barriers program is focusing on funding organizations that are breaking down barriers to high-quality diabetes care through Mobile Health Access Solutions.

It's Time to Go Beyond!

Together, we can meet diabetes-community members where they live, work, play, pray and learn.

We can elevate solutions to address critical problems that need to be solved.

Many people do not receive an accurate and timely diabetes diagnosis.

Many people who are diagnosed never receive vital management education, connection or encouragement.

2025 Innovation Grants: Going Mobile

Underrepresented communities often face bigger hurdles when it comes to healthcare access, leading to more undiagnosed diabetes and preventable health issues.

We’re here to change that!

Our goal is to meet communities where they’re at by funding solutions that will raise awareness about early diabetes diagnosis, promote and provide self-care resources, offer educational tools, and connect people with peer support—making a meaningful impact where it’s needed most!

Who is the grant designed for?

Federally qualified health centers (FQHC)
FQHC look-alike clinics
Safety-net clinics
School-based clinics
Faith-based organizations
Food pantries
Community centers
School districts
Sororities & fraternities that employ innovative approaches to help people with diabetes

Applicants must operate in the following cities to be eligible for grant funding: Tampa, Miami, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., New York (inc. NJ metro), Denver, Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit or Dallas.

What initiatives will the 2025 grants support?

Expanding mobile health services or mobile clinics.
Scaling tele-health solutions for diabetes management.
Community outreach programs focusing on diabetes prevention and care.
On-site early detection events and educational workshops in underrepresented areas.
Proposals benefiting individuals with type 1 or type 2 diabetes in underrepresented populations.

Beyond Barriers elevates innovation through:

Investment in partner organizations who are working to improve outcomes for the diabetes community in innovative ways that improve access to care, support and resources needed to thrive with diabetes.
Beyond Barriers will provide our partners financial support, educational resources and technical support to increase early diabetes diagnosis through warning-sign awareness and screening, improve access to care and enhance community education.
